Gundogan - SuN, Sea Sand & History

Gundogan is situated in the north-west of the Bodrum peninsular, and is only a 45 minute drive from the international airport of Bodrum and Milas, also only 15 minutes drive from Bodrum city centre.

Gundogan was known in antiquity as Farilya (meaning sunrise). The caves, windmills, cisterns, and rock cut monasteries bear witness to the great past of the town. Gundogan can rightly claim to be one of the earliest human settlements, as Bronze Age ceramics, polished stone axes, and milling stones have been found in nearby caves.

The extensive caverns encrusted with stalagmites and stalactites is a natural wonder not to be missed.

Gundogan Beach is one of the longest on the Bodrum peninsular, and is beautifully situated among the tangerine, olive and pine trees. Gundogan Bay is suitable for sailing and surfing. Nearby Rabbit and Apostol Islands attract many visitors.Yali mosque with its attractive minaret and the windmills are interesting to see. Today, many top-level members of the diplomatic service, active and retired, have preferred Gundogan as their summer retreat.
